About Leonice Shinneman:

Leonice Shinneman is a distinguished American disciple of the legendary North Indian tabla and pakhawaj master Pandit Taranath Rao. Fusing East Indian and West African rhythms, Leonice has collaborated with renowned artists such as Frank Zappa, Howard Levi, Gino Vannelli, Kiss, and Kula Shaker. He’s featured on the SWR 4-CD set “New Jazz Meeting 2000” and has contributed to film scores like “Drugstore Cowboy” and “Aliens 3.” Leonice also holds several U.S. patents for innovative percussion equipment and earned his BFA and MFA from California Institute of the Arts, where he also served on the faculty.

Kirtan30, offered twice a month, is your free 30-minute sonic journey out of the mind and into the natural joy of your soul. This is open to everyone and no experience is needed. 

What is Kirtan?

Kirtan is a musical meditation that calms the mind and connects you to the peace within your heart. Through sacred sounds and healing mantras, we come together to transform energy, activate love, and awaken the light and joy that dwells within us all.

No singing experience is required—just an open heart and a willingness to join in and feel the transformative effects!

As you let the vibrations of your voice and the mantra move through your body, you will begin to realign your energy on all levels: physical, mental, emotional and spiritual. This practice quickly fosters a sense of wellbeing and happiness that often lingers long after the session ends. The more you chant, the more this feeling of wellbeing permeates your daily life.

Yoga nidra is a guided relaxation practice that has many health benefits primarily because of it’s capacity to help release long held stress from a cellular level.

This practice unwinds blockages from the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual layers of your being so that you can experience more of the natural peace and joy that is your essential nature.

It also brings the opportunity for a deeper experience of meditation and a better night’s sleep.

Each session begins with a short breath practice to clear the mind. The majority of the session is spent lying down with blankets and bolsters for a guided meditation. Best not to eat too much before the practice but don't come hungry either!
